Principal's Policy in Developing Children's Visual Spatial Intelligence Through Extracurricular Activities at RA al Huda Selanegara

There are several efforts that schools can make to improve the competence of their students. One way is to carry out extracurricular programs. Extracurricular programs can be carried out when there is a policy from the underlying principal. This study aims to describe the principal's policies in developing students' visual-spatial intelligence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a naturalist phenomenological research type. This makes the authors do not do engineering on the research area. This research was conducted in semester 2 of the 2022-2023 school year at an early childhood education institution called RA Al Huda Selanegara. Based on the research results, it was found that the policies implemented by school principals to improve children's visual-spatial intelligence had gone well. The policies taken include: Adding extracurricular or study hours, Frequently participating in competitions or competitions in the arts, Involving parents in various activities, Adding facilities for extracurricular activities, Improving the quality of human resources
ABSTRAK
Ada beberapa upaya yang dapat dilakukan oleh sekolah untuk meningkatkan kompetensi peserta didiknya. Salah satunya adalah dengan melaksanakan program ekstrakurikuler. Program ekstrakurikuler bisa dilaksanakan ketika ada kebijakan dari kepala sekolah yang mendasarinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kebijakan kepala sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian fenomenologi yang bersifat naturalis. Hal ini menjadikan penulis tidak melakukan rekayasa terhadap wilayah penelitian. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester 2 Tahun Pelajaran 2022-2023 pada lembaga PAUD yang bernama RA Al Huda Selanegara. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kebijakan yang diterapkan oleh kepala sekolah untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan visual spasial anak telah berjalan dengan baik. Kebijakan-kebijakan yang diambil antara lain: ditambahkannya jam pelajaran atau ekstrakurikuler, sering mengikuti kegiatan perlombaan atau kompetisi dibidang seni, pelibatan orangtua dalam berbagai kegiatan, ditambahkannya fasilitas terhadap kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dan peningkatan kualitas SDM.
