The Effect of Breastfeeding Technique Education on Breastfeeding Effectiveness in Postpartum Mothers

Breastfeeding is a natural process that is important in providing optimal nutrition to babies. However, many postpartum mothers still experience obstacles in breastfeeding due to a lack of knowledge about correct breastfeeding techniques. This study aims to determine the effect of education on correct breastfeeding techniques on breastfeeding effectiveness in postpartum mothers at Ki Ageng Getas Pendowo Gubug Regional Hospital, Grobogan Regency. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Sampling was taken using a purposive sampling technique, the calculation of the sample size formula used the Slovin formula so that a sample size of 48 postpartum mothers was obtained. The instrument used was a breastfeeding effectiveness observation sheet compiled based on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Correct Breastfeeding Techniques. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed that before education, all respondents (100%) were in the ineffective category. After education, all (100%) changed to the effective category. The Wilcoxon test showed a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05), which means there was a significant difference between breastfeeding effectiveness before and after education. Therefore, this intervention can be made into a routine educational program in health facilities.
Abstrak
Menyusui merupakan proses alami yang penting dalam memberikan nutrisi optimal pada bayi. Namun, masih banyak ibu nifas yang mengalami kendala dalam menyusui karena kurangnya pengetahuan mengenai teknik menyusui yang benar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi teknik menyusui yang benar terhadap efektivitas menyusui pada ibu nifas di RSUD Ki Ageng Getas Pendowo Gubug Kabupaten Grobogan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimen dengan pendekatan one group pretest-posttest. Pengambilan sampel dengan tehnik purposive sampling, perhitungan rumus besar sampel menggunakan rumus slovin sehingga didapatkan jumlah sampel 48 ibu nifas. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi efektivitas menyusui yang disusun berdasarkan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) Teknik Menyusui yang Benar. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebelum edukasi, seluruh responden (100%) berada pada kategori tidak efektif. Setelah edukasi, seluruhnya (100%) berubah menjadi kategori efektif. Uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai p = 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara efektivitas menyusui sebelum dan sesudah edukasi . Oleh karena itu, intervensi ini dapat dijadikan salah satu program edukasi rutin di fasilitas kesehatan.
