Optimization of Reading Corner in Improving Reading Literacy Ability of Low Grade Students

This study aims to reveal the extent to which the reading corner optimization program can improve the reading literacy skills of children aged 6-7 years at SDK Masu. Through the Classroom Action Research approach that lasted for four months, this study intensively observed changes in students' literacy skills before and after the program was implemented. The results of the study show that the optimization of the reading corner can improve the reading literacy ability of low-grade students at SDK Masu. This can be seen from the percentage of students who have low literacy skills of 31% before the optimization of the reading corner and increased to 60.5% or in the medium category after the optimization of the reading corner. These findings indicate that by creating a conducive and interesting reading environment through the reading corner, students' interest in reading can be triggered and their literacy skills can be developed optimally. ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap sejauh mana program optimalisasi pojok baca dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi membaca anak usia 6-7 tahun di SDK Masu. Melalui pendekatan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang berlangsung selama empat bulan, penelitian ini secara intensif mengamati perubahan kemampuan literasi siswa sebelum dan setelah program dilaksanakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya optimalisasi pojok baca dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi membaca siswa kelas rendah di SDK Masu. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari persentase siswa yang memiliki kemampuan literasi rendah sebesar 31% sebelum adanya optimalisasi pojok baca dan meningkat menjadi 60,5% atau berada pada kategori sedang setelah optimalisasi pojok baca.Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa dengan menciptakan lingkungan membaca yang kondusif dan menarik melalui pojok baca, minat baca siswa dapat dipicu dan kemampuan literasi mereka dapat berkembang secara optimal. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa bukti empiris mengenai efektivitas program pojok baca dalam meningkatkan kualitas literasi anak usia dini dan berkontribusi pada pengembangan program literasi yang lebih komprehensif ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi.
